Adolescent Individual Psychotherapy

I provide short- and long-term one-on-one therapy to adolescents/teenagers.

Adolescence is an important transitional period that raises questions of identity and independence in young people. Adolescents often wrestle with ongoing internal conflict as they face the large degree of psychological and physical growth that happens during this phase. They may feel overwhelmed by intense emotions (i.e. feeling frustrated, angry, sad, lonely) as they struggle between becoming autonomous and needing guidance from their caregivers.  Therapy can be helpful in assisting adolescents to navigate through this challenging period.

My first priority is to keep therapy as the young person’s private and confidential space. However, as parents commonly experience increased conflict with their teenagers during this phase and may find it difficult to feel they understand them, parent guidance might be part of the process. The aim would be to enable family members to better support the adolescent. Adolescents might be present for these sessions, should he or she wish to be.

Sessions are typically 50 - 55 mins long, and we will generally meet once a week.
