Psychotherapy (often referred to as ‘talk therapy’ or 'counselling') can be helpful in assisting multiple psychological difficulties.

My approach to therapy is centered around providing a safe, thoughtful and non-judgemental space in which you may be able to speak freely about your thoughts, feelings, concerns and difficulties. I work from an insight orientated perspective, where the therapeutic space is used to explore and understand the meaning of your current difficulties and/or past traumas that hinder your ability to live a meaningful life. This process of developing deep self-awareness while engaging with your internal world enables the individual to free him-/herself from patterns of behaviour and symptoms that are counterproductive to her/his life, as well as bring about meaning and personal growth.

 

I do however strongly believe in finding a way of working that is best suited to the client's specific need, personality and/or temperament. Therefore, if the above-mentioned approach is not indicated for your concern, I may draw from other therapeutic interventions, such as psychoeducation and/or skills-training to facilitate behaviour change.

I provide sessions in English or Afrikaans, and work comfortably across different cultural and religious groups.
